Intro to AAAP (a)
Who we are, why we exist and what we do. How our political advocacy and beneficiary advocacy work together.
Thurs 3 December 10.30am - 12 midday
Intro to AAAP (b)
Big picture history: Unemployed and beneficiary fightback in NZ and what we can learn from the past to apply in our work today.
These workshops will take place in the FIRST Union training room 120 Church St, Onehunga. Please RSVP by Tues 17 Nov to contact@aaap if you would like to attend.
Following each of the above sessions there will be training for people who would like to start volunteering with us as beneficiary advocates.
Thursday 19 November 1pm to 2.30pm
We will discuss how and why as advocates we stand with people seeking their benefit entitlements, how to successfully challenge authority and our basic assumption that "No, is the wrong answer"
Thursday 3 December 1pm to 2.30pm
This session will focus on how to get people essential things like Food Grants and Advance Payments for essential household items (e.g. beds, fridges, washing machines etc) using what is set out in Work and Income policy and Ministerial Directives.
